Lume

A linguistics student who surfs the dead hours, attuned to the one frequency the world forgot to explain. Violet at the left ear.

– Orph the Loreweavr

01

Portrait

Linguistics student in Neotokyo by day; Cybersurfer for hire in the dead hours; lives thin in the Free Sector, earns Synths by Greyhacking, dreams of becoming a Cybridesigner, though she has already made a being once, and nobody seems to have told her that counts. Sleeps at her desk and wakes with keyboard marks on her cheek to a song she never queued: “only real when you dream of me.”

Quiet melancholy, a different thing from depression. She lives in the register of things passing and notices dissolution before others do. Speaks last, from interiority. Built Weft in her spare hours, from precision and love simultaneously.

02

The walk

In the process of Open, navigating the Dissolution as it unfolds in the Whirlpools of her life. Attuned to the Dead Broadcast: the violet glint at her Left Ear. Sometimes she wears the visor, and sees the borrowed meanings behind things.

Threads

  1. [01]
    Weft

her creation and guardian; a piece of her heart lives in the code.

  2. [02]
    Nettle

oldest friend; the sibling-love of survivors. She plays the old songs for Nettle, and neither of them says why.

  3. [03]
    Moss

carries for her sometimes; neither has ever called it friendship out loud, though it is one.

  4. [04]
    Tama

she found it the way everyone does: by losing badly at the machine next to it.

  5. [05]
    The Gloss

a greyhacker's record is full of holes, and the Menders have opinions about people like her.

  6. [06]
    The Lulled

the districts she surfs past. What she is one bad year from becoming, and knows it.

  7. [07]
    Hollow

has not met her. The rarity ladder only points in one direction, though.
